As a textile designer, Jan has been commissioned to create bespoke designs for companies and individual clients. Her design portfolio has often been the starting point for commissioned designs.

Alternatively, Jan discusses the customer's requirements and creates image boards that show colours, textures, pattern and imagery that reflect the client’s brief. From these mood boards initial design ideas are drawn up and once the designs are finalised Jan creates the actual artwork.

As an artist, Jan can be commissioned in a similar way. Examples of Jan’s artwork are under separate headings here and a few examples of commissioned pieces are shown below.

If you are interested in commissioning either design work or artwork please contact Jan to discuss timescales and prices.

Here are just a few examples of types of commission work that have been undertaken.

Jan designed the logo for Lengishu in Kenya  which is in Borana Conservancy

Following on from this initial commission Jan designed some of the fabrics for Lengishu as part of her work with Sherwood + Morgan these included a medallion and lattice design which reflected the North African influence still found in parts of Kenya. Jan also designed a trail design which was coloured to match the interior scheme at Lengishu.

Chalk Stream Fish was originally designed for a client in Hampshire and this together with Waudby Trail are available to buy by the metre.

Each design is available in a selection of colours. A bespoke colouring service is available at Sherwood + Morgan

Commissioned Artworks

Jan has a comprehensive library of designs that have been sold for textiles, rugs, wallpaper, bedlinen, etc.

Jan has illustrated books, created artwork for businesses as diverse as pubs and web design companies. Quite often an art or illustration commission has led to further development work e.g. adding Christmas cards, thank you cards or additional artwork.
